Most of us take for granted just how much our feet do for us each and every day and the strain that they undertake during the thousands of steps we make each and every day. And although some of us may appreciate just how much we use our feet, not all of us take as much care as we should be off our feet. However, it is absolutely essential for your physical health that you start taking more care of your feet as the older you get the more strain that they’re going to be under.
Today we’re going to be focusing on one part of your foot in general and that is your toes and why you should be wearing what is referred to as a ‘toe separator’. Firstly, let’s have a look at what they are. Well, as the name suggests, it’s an accessory that allows you to keep space between each of your toes. Most of the modern-day shoes and trainers end up squeezing the front of our feet together and subsequently our toes then get squished together.
This poses no immediate health concerns but over time if our toes stay squished together this will eventually start to become the norm and your foot will start to deform and adapt its shape around that of your trainer. Now, not only will your foot start to look, well, out of shape, this will also start to cause you significant amounts of pain in future.
When you first get your toe separators, you’re not going to want to use them all the time. Instead, start off using them occasionally, and as time goes on, slowly increase the amount of time that you’re wearing them. I would suggest starting initially with 1 hour per day and wearing them without your shoes. However, as time goes on, you can eventually start to wear your toe separators both in bed at night and even inside your trainers.
Toe separators or as they’re also referred to, ‘spreaders’ are also a cost-effective option and won’t have you breaking the bank if you want to start looking after your feet. However, you’re going to want to do your research and make sure that you’re getting toe separators that are actually going to benefit your foot health as if they have been designed incorrectly they can become detrimental to your health even.
